Back in the year 0 A.D., something beautiful happened - Jesus the Messiah was born! We want to show you the beauty of that event through our Drive Thru Nativity.
Imagine going back in time and walking the ancient streets of Bethlehem. Animals are chattering, the sounds of the hustle and bustle of busy marketplaces fill the streets, vendors vying for your attention, and fresh bread is baking, ready for sale. This live, interactive nativity aims to bring those authentic Bethlehem streets to Scottsbluff with authenticity to make you feel you are right there with them. Your vehicle will enter via East 27th Street and slowly weave around the parking lot to the exit, all while stopping at each scene to encounter Roman soldiers, weary travelers, live animals, tents, inns, a busy, bustling marketplace, shepherds, wise men, Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus in the manger, and the promise of the hope of Jesus and the cross to complete the experience.
It all started 2000 years ago when the Roman emperor, Caesar Augustus demanded a census to take place. In those days, being counted in a census meant traveling to your home town. For this Drive Thru Nativity event, you are now one of those traveling citizens headed to your home town of Bethlehem.

Why is Bethlehem packed?
The streets of Bethlehem are packed because families have returned for the census. Streets are buzzing, hotels are full, local vendors are busy trying to get their goods and supplies to all the weary travelers - just like you!
What is so special about bethlehem?
Bethlehem is the birthplace of our Savior, Jesus the Messiah! It is special because Jesus being born in a humble place like Bethlehem fulfilled prophecy long ago that said this would happen (Micah 5:2). Hundreds of other prophecies were fulfilled to confirm that Jesus is the Messiah, the one that had been waited on to come! Jesus fulfilled many hundreds of individual prophecies, including being born in Bethlehem, entering Jerusalem on a donkey, and being betrayed for thirty pieces of silver, proving he is the Messiah!
what is a nativity?
The Nativity refers to the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. The Bible gives us details about this historical event. Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, Israel. His mother, Mary, was engaged to a man named Joseph, who was descended from King David, and Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit in a miraculous birth. Today, we usually refer to a nativity as the scene of Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus, animals, shepherds, wise men.
what is this whole event about?
We celebrate the nativity because Jesus, who is God himself, came to earth to save us. Humans had made it impossible to have a relationship with God because of our sin. Jesus himself came to remove our sin so we could be with him in eternity because he loves us so much. This event happened 2000 years ago, making a way for us to be in fellowship with God once again. Jesus saved us!
what is a messiah or savior and who is he?
The meaning of MESSIAH is the expected king and deliverer of the Jews. Messiah means "Anointed One" in Hebrew and "Christ" in Greek. It refers to the promised Deliverer, King, Priest, and Prophet who would redeem and restore God's people. Jesus is the Messiah who fulfilled all prophecies and rose from the dead.

The wise men from the east traveled for a very long time, following the Star of David that lead them to Jesus. Their purpose and mission was to see the Messiah. They were wealthy and brought Jesus expensive gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Many shepherds were in the hills of Bethlehem because of the census. They were often isolated for long time periods while tending the sheep, and considered lower class. God sent angels to the shepherds before anyone else to use them to declare that His son was born!
From the wealthiest to the lowliest, everyone was a beautiful part of the birth of the Messiah.
