The name for 11.13 MINISTRIES is taken from Jeremiah 29:11-13. It will serve as the umbrella for several other “missions”. The stated purpose of 11.13 in the 501c3 nonprofit corporation founding documents is, “To put God’s love into action by providing spiritual, physical, and emotional aid in many forms to people in need, to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to bring glory to God.”
One of those missions is By God’s Grace Mobile Meals. Hot meals delivered to the front door of anyone in need. People may contact Deb or Larry Massie to volunteer with the meals…or to have a meal delivered to themselves or someone they find in need.
There will be other missions under the 11.13 umbrella that are tailored to specific target populations, such as families in need during the Christmas season, select areas in the Valley, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and many others as the Lord leads and inspires. The hope is that other servant hearts would find a service niche in a mission under the 11.13 umbrella that best suits their God-given gifts….be they spiritual, physical, or financial. All are nonprofit under the 11.13 Ministries umbrella.
Why Jeremiah 29:11-13? These verses were a reminder to the exiles in Babylon that also serve as a reminder to God’s people today in the midst of an uncertain circumstance. The temple in Jerusalem was gone...destroyed…God’s people in exile in a strange land were probably wondering where was their God. Had He forgotten them? I’ve heard recently some of the same concerns expressed by some Christian friends who forget that we are a people geographically away from our home. Our true homes are with the Lord…we are at home as members of the church…Christ’s body…regardless of where we live and regardless of the circumstance. We are in passage as we live out our witness. The exiles were not removed from their place among God’s people and neither are we. God’s plan has not been thwarted…does not mean a momentary lapse in God’s attention to us. These verses serve to remind us of that truth.
