What We're About

Gospel Sowers will lead us into Community Mission Days right here in our own community.

Based off of Matthew 13 and the Parable of the Sower, Gospel Sowers is here to love on and serve the people of our community, either by direct contact or serving existing missions already established.  Our team will be coordinating multiple local outreaches throughout the year, but focusing on one or two ministry areas each time.
Why are we doing it?
  • People need Jesus!
  • To form lasting relationships.
  • We are not called to be silent, but to go and share.
Who are we reaching?
  • The unsaved in our local area!
  • Each outreach will have a different focus on who we will connect with.
Who can participate?
  • Everyone in our church!  From youth to seniors.

Drive Thru Nativity! 2026

Coming December, 2026

Gospel Sowers, a ministry of Harvest Valley Church, will be hosting a Drive Thru Nativity coming in December, 2026! We need many hands and volunteers to make it happen, including families! There are parts for everyone, and this is a great way to get you and your children involved and serving!

Imagine going back in time and walking the streets of Bethlehem. What are sights, sounds, and even smells that you might encounter? We aim to bring those authentic Bethlehem streets to Scottsbluff with as much authenticity as we can. Our goal is not just to create a fun and interesting experience, but to witness to as many as we can in our community. There are not many Christmas events in the Valley, and this is one that will attract the non-saved just due to the experience and fun it will bring, but also share the Gospel in a unique way! Cars will enter the parking lot on one side of the church and weave around slowly to exit the other, encountering Roman soldiers, weary travelers, animals, tents, the inn, a busy, bustling marketplace, Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus in the manger, shepherds, wise men, and the promise of hope with Jesus and the cross, and a strong message of the Gospel as they leave.

Plans are beginning now! Can you help us share Jesus' love by utilizing the talents God has given you? Contact us to see what needs there are, for more information, or to sign up to volunteer. Look below at the areas we have identified we need help with, to see where you can be a part.  We can't wait to share the Gospel with our community! Join us!

2024 RECAP!

Jeremiah House Visit

Picture
In April, 2024,  Gospel Sowers visited with the Jeremiah House staff and community.  While there were not a lot of kids or street people in attendance the night we went, we were able to talk with some of the street people, the director, and some volunteers to get such good information and really feel the heart for this ministry here.  This is a great opportunity to serve and bless those in need in our community.

Jeremiah House has been serving the community since 1997 when a woman feeding neighborhood children in her home reached out to her church family for assistance in her endeavors. The ministry has changed in scope and reach over the years but continues to reach families with the gospel.   They meet every Tuesday evening throughout the school year, providing programs for kids 4 yrs. through High School, supper provided for kids and adults, Bible lessons, music, games, crafts, and an adult women’s Bible study.

Local Care Center Craft and Visit

What a blessing it was for us to visit with the residents of a local Care Center residents in November, 2024!  We had many residents join us to make Thanksgiving crafts (a fabric stand-up turkey and thankfulness leaf mobile) and eat a plateful of cookies with hot apple cider.  We enjoyed conversation, laughs, and helped decorate their seasonal Christmas tree with the freshly made decorations. The care center enjoys decorating with the residents' artwork.

Thanksgiving Dinner Serving at Jeremiah House

Picture
In mid-November, 2024, we had an opportunity for us to serve meals at the Jeremiah House for their annual Thanksgiving dinner!  We served a turkey dinner to the street people community and anyone else in need.  After serving, we had the opportunity to visit with some of the people enjoying the dinner, helped clean up, and visited with the volunteers.

2nd ANNUAL Christmas Tree Decorating With Local Resident Home

In December, 2024, we visited with local assisted living residents in our SECOND ANNUAL Christmas tree decorating!  We helped the residents decorate their Christmas tree, sing Christmas carols with them using their piano, and provided Christmas cookies to share with the residents.  Wearing our festive Christmas wear, we had a blast sharing Jesus' love with them!

Three Meal Prep For Jeremiah House

A late December 2024 opportunity arose to help prepare three full meals to freeze and have on hand to deliver to Jeremiah House as needed in 2025.  In two hours' time, we made enough meals to serve 60 people three different dinners on three different days!  We had a great, hard-working crew who suffered through chopping onions, boiling pastas, cooking meat, and doing the hard task of washing all the dishes from that endeavor.  What a blessing these will be in 2025!

2023 RECAP!

2-Day Local Missions Trip

Picture
In June 2023, the Gospel Sowers team planned a two-day local missions "trip" to our own community with the one goal of sharing the gospel with the people we come in contact with right here in the Valley.

On Friday, we started with individual outreach to select individuals that had requested help with cleaning, building a ramp on their home for easy handicap access, visiting with them, and moving furniture to another location.  We took cookies to the Scottsbluff and Gering police departments, fire departments, and an urgent care facility.  We finished up the evening with an ice cream social at a local assisted living home, visiting with the residents and sharing the love of Jesus.

Saturday morning we assisted 11.13 Ministries with meal deliveries to those in need in our community.  We finished up some individual outreach afterward.

The blessing of our Gospel outreach was well received with several requests for our team to return. Some requested consistent cleaning help, a request for us to return again and play Dominoes as we visit, to do more handyman work, and to return to visit with the residents at the assisted living home, bringing rhubarb crisp and any fresh garden produce.

Christmas Tree Decorating With Local Resident Home

Picture
In November, 2023 the resident home arranged it so we could help decorate their 10-foot Christmas tree with them, lead in Christmas carols, and eat cookies together with the purpose of witnessing the Hope of Jesus in this season of Good News!  This was a fun activity for us to do with the residents while getting to share about Jesus and eat cookies while visiting!
