The Importance of the Gathered Church

Harvest Family;  I have talking a lot about the scattered Church lately as apposed to the gathered Church.  The scattered Church is what we are all the time as we live out our life for Christ every day.  But the Bible makes a big deal about Christians meeting together at least once a week.  We are getting by doing on-line services, but it simply is not the same.  The Lord wanted His Church to be healthy and strong and therefore He prescribed a formula for Church meetings.  Acts 2:42 says, "They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."  They were devoting themselves to meet together for teaching, fellowship, eating together and celebrating the Lord's supper and prayer.  In verse 47 it says they were, "praising God and having favor with all the people, and God was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved."   Out of these gatherings came Praise, unity and numerical growth.  It is necessary that the Church meet together regularly in order for it to be strong and to see more people come to faith in Christ.  We will never replace face to face gatherings with on-in line Church services.  The on-line services have certainly been effective in keeping the Church connected and even reaching out beyond the Church.  However, the Church still needs to gather together in order to carry on the critical  functions of fellowship, corporal worship, prayer and teaching.  I know I am missing the coming together as a Church, and it can't come to soon for me for us to be gathering together again.                                                                                                                                                  I encourage you to call someone in our Church family today just to encourage them.  Even if no one is calling you, you can reach out to someone who needs your call.                                                                                                                                                                          Looking forward to the days we can meet together again.                                                                                                                                                                                             Pastor Curt

Thanks for pointing out that it is stated in the word of God that the people gather together to teach each other and have fellowship. I guess that just shows how important it is to go to church with other people. With that in mind, I hope I can find one here in the location that I just moved into this month.

Thanks for helping me understand that people still need to gather in a church to carry on the critical function of fellowship. I guess I should start looking for a baptist church in this area that I moved into just this month. It's to follow my faith and do my duty in a church to fulfill my spiritual obligations.
